I think, it is important for you - yes YOU - who happen to stumble upon my blog, to know more about who I am and what my intentions are.
First I would like to stress that I am NOT a MISSIONARIST, who attempts to preach around about my religion. NO.
Second, neither am I a scholar in religion study, comparative religions, middle east study or the likes. No.
I am a student of Communication Study, specifically in the field of Visual Communication. Thus my academic background is in visual culture study, semiotics analysis, viewers psychology and the likes. I do, however, use my academic background as a vehicle to critically analyze my religion and moreover how people all over the world views my religion through imageries and other means of visualizations.
Third, I DO NOT belong to any Islamic organizations/ political party or anything like that. Thus I could highly assure you that I have no political intentions behind this blog. I am an independent scholar, who is willing to share my muses and my findings throughout the process of completing my final dissertation.
So.. Who am I?
My screen-name is Cemplon, and my real name is Neysa. Those who know me in real life mostly call me Nez, although few people who are personally close to me may have different nicknames for me :)
Yes, I am a Muslim. I love my religion and I am holding on to my faith... BUT I am just a believer, who does not want to be blindfolded and doctrined by my own believe. I am just a curious, critical youth who wanted to deepen my belief by UNDERSTANDING it, keep LEARNING and studying its contents rather than to merely swallow anything that is thrown into my mouth. I am just a lifetime student of my own religion, and I am by no means an alim ulama, an imam or expert in Islam.
Although, if you happen to have some questions in your mind about Islamic law, interpretation of Koran, meanings of some ayyats, or any other things in mind I would be more than happy to assist you to find the answers. If I happen to have the knowledge I would give you the best answer there is, but if not then I will pass on your questions to the experts or those whom I know might have the best answer :)
................
'Nuff said.
Now, what is my Final Dissertation about?
It is about:
"The Role of Photojournalism in Portraying Muslim in the Netherlands."
OK, let's get the ball rolling, people!
