Little seeds for the seekers

Coroflot, itu nama forum dimana diriku jadi member selama 6 bulan terakhir (rasanya). Mereka melabeli dirinya the creative world at works.

Seeds disini maksudnya words of advices, yang ga hanya ngena untuk orang2 yang terjun di creative works (yup, these advices apply to all job seekers and young professionals in general). Kadang bisa bikin para new grads terhibur juga termotivasi dengan jatuh bangun semasa pencarian. Yeah... pencarian eksistensi diri dalam profesi pilihan kita, juga eksistensi diri secara umum (isn't that one thing a career supposed to do to us?) Mereka menekankan pentingnya being smart, komunikatif, dan efisien, tapi jangan pernah lupa untuk take it easy and play it by ear. Coba baca Five Successful Practices... and The Glory of Screwing Ups. It made me smile :-)

Baru aja, aku dapat another advice of the day:

It's always fun to talk with a professionally mixed group of people about why the iPod did so well. The ad people say it was the ad campaign. The UI people say it's the interface. The business people point to the iTunes store, and the ID kids say it's a beautiful object.

Who's right? They're all right. Apple is great because they don't let anything slide. Neither do good designers.

Another grrrrrreat advice, about "building network" :

The term 'networking' always seems kind of sleazy for some reason. I think if it as relationship building and searching for others with common goals, needs, interests... I'm not for everyone, people tend to either like or dislike me. Best to get that out of the way right away instead of pretending to be someone else at first.

Artikel kompletnya bisa dibaca di sini.

Moral of the day: mending baca2 career advice di Coroflot daripada ngamuk2 ga jelas sama orang2 yang lebih ga jelas lagi.
